conversation with my brother

kelly  |  15 June 2006 - 10:57am

"You remember the song 'This Little Light of Mine' from when we were little?"

"Yeah."

"How's it go?"

(singing)
"This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I'm gonna--"

"Kelly."

"--let it shine! Let it shine, let it shine, let it--"

"Kelly!"

"Sorry. It's such a catchy tune!"

"Yeah, but it's the second verse I'm wondering about."

"Hide it under a bush? Oh NO! I'm gonna let it shine.
Hide it under a bush? Oh NO! I'm gonna let it shine."

"Yeah okay, so that's what I thought it was, too. Bush. But I found out today that it's bushel. 'Hide it under a bushel? NO!'"

"What?! Bushel? Who says bushel?!"

"Really."

"That doesn't make any sense."

"I know."

"Of course, hiding it under a bush doesn't make a whole lot of sense, either."

"Yeah, I always thought that was a dangerous idea."

"I'd always figured that's how the burning bush came to be."
