it was raining lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

kelly  |  20 July 2005 - 10:24am

On Sunday we spent the day biking and geocaching with Rob's parents. We had about 3 miles of biking left between us and the van when it suddenly started POURING rain. Not pouring. POURING. Think of pouring rain and multiply that by 5. That's how hard it was POURING. It was POURING such that it stung my skin. It was POURING such that I couldn't look straight ahead. It was POURING such that the rain filled my shoes. It was POURING such that rain even started to puddle in my shorts places I didn't know water could puddle. It was POURING RAIN, y'all.

With about one mile left, the rain let up a bit. It still definitely qualified as pouring rain, but not quite POURING. And I looked over my shoulder at Rob and said, "Well, this is nothing." And right then there was a huge flash of lightning, the kind you hear, the kind that clicks with static. And then the sky rumbled with thunder, and I knew that was the universe's warning to me to stop with the fucking sarcasm already or else it would show me who's boss. So I did. I shut up and pedaled hard, with the rain flowing off my helmet and into my eyes.

By the time we reached the van, the rain had stopped and the sun was starting to peek out from behind the clouds. We stood in silence and dripped. Then I took a step and water bubbled out the top of my shoe. And we all looked at each other and then burst into laughter. We stood there, soaked to the skin and standing in our own puddles, and laughed.

That's my favorite memory from this summer so far.

many thanks to my subconscious for pointing this out to me

kelly  |  20 July 2005 - 9:18am

I had a terrifying dream last night in which a man entered a house with the intention of killing everyone inside. I witnessed the whole thing; it was very vivid and very disturbing. For most of the dream, I was just watching, like it was a movie. But then near the end, as is common in dreams, I became the woman who was trying to escape from him. And the whole time in my mind I knew it was this person.

I never have nightmares, other than my monthly bitten by a snake ones. And I know everyone has an opinion about what dreams do or do not mean, but I have had several experiences which have lead me to take my dreams seriously.

So I woke up immediately thinking about how my stats show that several people have found my blog by searching for this. And I thought, "I wonder if he has searched for that. If I were him and I had access to the internet, I would. And I wonder if he did, if he'd come across my blog. Nah, probably not."

Well I just did that Google search for the first time and I am the #3 search result. Holy shit on a stick. I know he'll probably be in jail for the rest of his life, blah blah blah, but I am removing that post immediately and hoping Google forgets me ASAP.

Creepers jeepers.
