A recent project here at our house was to create a wall map on which we can mark with pins all the places we've been. I came across this idea somewhere not long ago and immediately wondered why I'd never thought of this. Rob is one of those people who loves maps, and we've made travel such a focus of our lives that it only makes sense to represent that in some way in our home.

We followed this tutorial. It was a fun project to make, and it's even more fun to push in another pin whenever we return home.

And speaking of travel, coming soon will be a post about last weekend's destination, one of our favorite places on earth.

We made sure that the thing had absolutely no wrinkles whatsoever when we rolled it out. And then the next day, hanging on the wall, a few wrinkles appeared. And they will not flatten back down, which is really grating my perfectionist nerves. The only cause I can come up with is that the spray adhesive we used says it is for "temporary projects" and maybe a stickier adhesive wouldn't have allowed wrinkles to pop up? Anyway, look into that before you do this. As it is, we just pretend the world has a few more mountain ranges.
That's awesome, kel! But I HIGHLY recommend ink dots beneath/near the pins. I inherited a work map like that at my office when someone retired, and some of the little pins fell out during moves. As life goes on, those pins will disappear. Maybe a book chronicalling (a word?) it all, for if/when the pins come out. Over the years. Love y'all... :)
Coolio!
Ooooh! I saw one in Vancouver! :-)
What a wonderful idea and record of the wonderful places you have and will go!
