another update of late

kelly  |  24 March 2008 - 10:18pm

Apologies for lame update post but there just is no time right now....

1. Last week I went on my first rescue squad call. Lights and sirens and everything. Wooo!

2. The godawful motherfucking wallpaper is gone! I've finally finished, using the iron/DIF/wine method. (Remove top layer by steaming with iron and bottom layer by squirting with DIF. Throughout process, guzzle wine.) And this week is spring break, so I'm working my ass off on the rest of the kitchen.

3. I'm back on track with the dentist. No cavities! And the hygienist says we can just forget that one ever happened. And I got brownie points for my choice of gum. She asked if I chew gum, and I told her I chew sugarfree. "Do you know which brand?" she asked.

"Orbit."

She smiled and nodded her head in approval.

"Is that a good one?" I asked.

"A very good one," she praised.

In other words, I get an A+.

(Which reminds me of a recent mini-story. We were having a conversation with my family about blood types. I asked Rob what his blood type was, and he said, "I think I have A-plus." And I chuckled and said, "You mean A positive?" And he said, "I guess. All I know is the card says A-plus." My brother laughed, then rolled his eyes and said, "Geez, even Rob's blood is really smart.")

Guzzling wine is a *vital* part of any -- nay, EVERY -- home-improvement project.

Congrats on your first squad call!

Haha A-plus blood! Too funny :)

How did your first squad call go? Are you hooked on the adrenaline rush yet?

I'm glad to know your dentist approves of Orbit. Now I have an excuse to keep buying their mint mojito gum, aside from the fact that it's delicious. It's dentist approved!

Did you get to ride in the front of the ambulance? did you get to push any buttons?

LadyBug  |  25 March 2008 - 10:22am

Orbit gum is ADA Accepted! And it's the only gum Miss Attitude's orthodontist will let her chew. (She had an expander put in in February.)

Love and hugs to you, my friend.

Oh yes I want to hear more about the Woo Woo Siren Induction. That sounds SO cool.

A+ blood. That's funny. I have a friend who told me once when it came to her bra size, she was always on the honor roll. I love it!

Weee Oooh Weeeee Oooooh! I know that siren sound well, with me being in the trailer right next to the highway and all. Congrats!

I must say I'm a little disappointed that you didn't use the fabric softener/wine method. That's okay.

I also have A+ blood, and I must say that I was proud that it matched my report cards growing up.

Indeed, Karyn. I think that was the problem with our first home improvement project - we didn't break out the alcohol until afterwards.

It went well, geeky! Definitely a thrill to ride superfast to the scene. And I'm going to have to try Orbit's mint mojito flavor - yum!

The person with highest seniority gets to ride shotgun, William. So I didn't ride in front or push any buttons. But I'd rather ride in the back, especially when there's a patient since that's where the action is.

Hi LadyBug! I did not know it was ADA Accepted! (Even though, hmm, it says so right there on the package.) Awesome! Love and hugs to you too, dear.

It was a good first call, jana, because the situation was urgent without being severe or scary. And I learned a lot about ambulance and hospital procedures. Needless to say, it was very exciting!

UCM, the fabric softener method is what I used last year to remove the wallpaper in the bathroom, and it worked wonders. But it wouldn't budge the bitchy wallpaper in the kitchen. I had to resort to the commercial chemical crap.

How exciting that you can treat people now! And that the wallpaper is gone - at least you had the wine to try and stay sane through that ordeal.
Hmmm, Orbit is really good, huh? I definitely chew sugarless, but I get Extra.
I always say I have A-plus blood too. :)

kelly  |  28 March 2008 - 6:14pm

I used to chew Extra, Jenski, and I really liked the flavor and it lasted forever. Orbit isn't any better than that, I don't think, although I do like that the sticks of gum don't fall out of the wrapper and all over my purse now.
