been reading: The Know-It-All by A.J. Jacobs
The premise of this book is that the author reads the entire Encyclopaedia Britannica. Why I picked this up I have no idea. It sounded intriguing. And it was supposed to be funny. And I was at Powell's, the famous Portland bookstore, and wanted to buy something. The fact that this was in the sale bin should have been a red flag.
In each chapter, which correlates to a letter in the encyclopedia, Jacobs shares some interesting facts that he learns and also details how his quest is affecting his daily life. I made it to the H's. There are so many books I want to read, and this just isn't one of them.

Oh but I am sure that once you got to the "N"s it would have picked up.
Oh, that's too bad. It sounds really interesting, the kind of book I would definitely pick up if I saw it.

(i made that up in ten seconds because i didn't know what else to comment. it doesn't make much sense, i realize. but it was fun to try!) ::hugs!::
Rz that was Awesome!
You were at Powell's! Oh, how I adore the gargantuan block o' books. Have you ever been up to the rare book room? They have some pretty awesome first editions. That you can stare at through glass. Heh. We are moving! there next weekend (not to Powell's, but to Portland). I can't wait.
Ho-lee shit, Rz! That was freaking incredible! Like, I think you could make a living making up alphabetical phrases. Or at the very least it would get you a good run on the talk show circuit.
"talk show circuit?!" why, i'm offended! i'd do the talk show circuit because of much more juicy subjects than being a word nerd! try these for titles: "OCD Wannabes" or "Pigsty Perfectionists (if i can't do it just exactly perfectly, i just flat out don't do it at all)" or "Loser Boy Magnet"!!! ;-)
Hee Rz! And I could totally be a guest on "Pigsty Perfectionists"! I feel you there.
