a list of excuses for why I've been MIA in blogland

kelly  |  5 June 2006 - 7:57pm

Thanks to everyone for your anniversary wishes!

I haven't had time to read blogs for at least a week, a fact I'm hoping to remedy this evening. Here's what I've been up to:

  1. Extreme flowerbed makeover. I don't have photos because I suck, but trust me on the extreme part. The people who owned this house before us planted a vine in the largest flower bed. I do not know why on earth they would have planted said devil vine. But I suspect they didn't do it until after we had agreed to buy the house, and I suspect it was because they had two constantly wailing, whining, super-bratty children who made every waking moment miserable and they looked at us with our wail-free, whine-free, super-brat-free lives and wanted to make us suffer. We should have taken out the vine long ago but we didn't because it's fucking hard. So it took over the bed and creeped up the bushes and spilled into the driveway and looked uber-trashy. Finally over Memorial Day weekend we tore the motherfucker out and then borrowed my dad's big bad ass redneck tiller and tore up some serious dirt. You should have seen Rob plowing that fertile ground. HOT. After he finished and there was just naked soil everywhere, I said, "Dude, it already looks WAY better." And then we planted stuff and mulched and I think Greenie would be proud.

  2. Anniversary. Remember on Full House when Danny comes home to discover that Michelle has started calling both Uncle Jesse (have mercy!) and Joey "Dadda" and he realizes that he has been working so much that he's lost touch with his daughters? And so he declares that the next day will be "Father/Daughter Day" and he takes off the whole day to spend with the girls? And they get to choose what they do for the whole day? And they go shopping and to the zoo and to a ballgame and to the carnival? And the episode ends with Danny putting Michelle in her crib and as he leaves the room she says, "Dadda?" And he walks back into the room and does the celebratory elbow/knee pump accompanied with a victorious "YES!" Y'all are totally with me, right? Okay, so that's how Rob and I did our anniversary. Not the baby crib thing - the Father/Daughter Day thing,. We were in Baltimore and we each got to choose one thing we wanted to do. I chose the aquarium and he chose an Orioles game. (At the aquarium I got to see a dolphin show! Kick ass.) We also did some geocaching and had dinner on the harbor and it was fabulous to have the whole day to spend together. Then we crashed at a hotel for exactly four hours before catching a flight to...

  3. Boston. We went to Boston to visit some friends. We'd never been to Boston before, so it was very exciting to go because I got to add the T to my city subway ride collection. And also because Boston is cool and stuff. But, you know, mostly the subway ride thing.

  4. Mirror Dashboard widget. Call me Narcissus, but that thing is damn distracting.

Your anniversary sounds like it was magnifico, darling. Glad you got that motherfuckin' vine out. I could almost hear the rrriiippp!

Kelly goes from talking about her husband plowing and planting seeds to Full House? Do I see a connection here? And then they go to BOSTON to ride the SUBWAY? Okay I have no idea how that fits into the wole pregnancy conspiracy thing...

Yeah, yeah, whatever. Our amusement was impaired. You owe us. Blog your ass off to make up.

It is such an annoyance to come here and find the same post sitting here day after day, and know that there's no point going and making a comment, that it's just me and William and Rz and CM and Yonzie semi-amusing one another, baying at the moon waiting for you to come back. So dammit, don't do that again.

Gardening. Anniversary. Full House day in Baltimore. Frigging Boston. Pfft.

Oh, umm ... welcome back. :)

oh my gosh we have that SAME vine. It's taking over. But I do not have the greenery sense on how to replace it. I'm just gonna hire someone. But good for you doing it yourself! Men in soil are HOT.

Glad you had a great anniversary, we are glad you're back!

I have a surprise for you in my Flickr stream. I'm not nekkid though, neither is the dirt.

And I totally don't believe your #12 anymore. I've seen you. Maybe it's just the spit-up you don't like. Who likes that? Nobody.

Glad you had fun. You are one travellin' fool this summer. It's best you took time to tear out the mammoth mofo before it ate your house, though. That's never a fun thing to come home to. Eeee, you're back!
