spf: where I be
kelly | 11 August 2005 - 10:09pm
This is my favorite stuff portrait day so far. Because as much as I make fun of Redneck Valley, the truth is I fucking love it. To be nestled among the mountains makes me feel safe. The sunsets take my breath away. To be able to see stars like we can see stars here...amazing. I live in a college town surrounded by farmland; it's a mix of modern and quaint.
This place is where I grew up, it's where my family is, it's where I share my life with Rob, it's home. And I guess what I love most about this place is that it truly has a sense of place. You walk outside and you can see this place, you can feel this place, and well yes, sometimes you can smell this place too. We do have a hell of a lot of cows.
I can't choose just one photo of Redneck Valley. So I made a whole gallery. (Many of these were taken by Rob.) Two of these photos were taken an hour from home, looking towards Redneck Valley. The rest were taken within 10 minutes of our house, and several were taken from the field next to our house. Welcome to my world.
Click on the photo to view the entire gallery.

And here's my 'hood. This is about 50 steps from my back door, actually.
Meet my neighbors:

And this is what they did when I told them they were going to be on the internet:
Finally, here is Rudy, my ride:
Okay, now I'm just messing with you. My Honda Civic is what actually takes me places. And her name is Rudy.
Happy Friday to you!

Lovely!
You certainly live in a beautiful spot! I love, love, LOVE the photo of the farmhouse in the sunset/sunrise light. Beautiful!
Also, I updated my link to you. I'm very pleased with myself for doing it so promptly.
Congratulations on the new site. Good fer you!
I'm always so amazed by your pictures of where you live. It's absolutely serene even with the methane factory next door. And you have mountains...with fog! I hate you in the most loving possible way.
Your #7 sunset trumps all of mine. Hooker.
I wish I had a Rudy. Gas jumped $.10 to $2.39 yesterday. I know people will tell me to shut up, but we also have some of the worst roads and bridges to accompany our "good" gas prices. We're supposed to vote on a gasoline tax soon.
Redneck Valley looks mighty perty! I used to thing living in a place like that would suck, but now I'm not so sure. My inlaws live in the sticks and it's quite nice.
It is freakin gorgeous there. I am mesmerized. *drool*
Well, well, how pastoral and serene your life landscape is! I am jealous. I want cows and grass too!
I want crayonz 2.39 gas prices :-)
Its 2.55 here now. Yuck. My car has a freakin' V8 engine. Just lovely.
I love the pictures. I would love to like in a serene place like that. I'm playing, but late. Probably tomorrow. Maybe. Or Monday. I'm just so decisive.
Congrats on the move!
Um...can I come hang out with you?
WAY cooler than California.
But you know, California Cows are Happy Cows!
Beautiful pictures! It sounds like an amazing place to grow up and call home.
Your Redneck Valley looks a little more quaint than the one I grew up in. But, sorry, it's still not cooler than California ;)
You are so lucky! I love cows!
Seriously. TGIM is NOT ALLOWED to see these pictures. He'd have us moved out to Redneck Valley in two shakes of a lamb's tail! Or something...
